LTO, PNP Crack Down on Reckless Stunts at Marilaque Road

LTO Chief Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II ordered intensified enforcement along Marilaque Road in coordination with PNP-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) Director Police Brig. Gen. Eleazar Matta on January 27, 2025. This directive comes in response to a tragic incident that claimed the life of a motovlogger attempting the dangerous “Superman” stunt.

For years, Marilaque Road has become a hotspot for high-speed riding, illegal stunts, and dangerous exhibitions, endangering not just motorcycle riders but also innocent motorists and pedestrians. Authorities are now taking decisive action to restore order and uphold public safety in the area.

“We have to put a stop to this practice because it endangers not only the riders but also other road users. A motovlogger lost his life, and innocent tourists were also put in danger,”

-Asec. Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II

Immediate Actions Implemented

To curb reckless riding and prevent further incidents, the LTO and PNP have initiated the following measures:

  • Criminal charges filed and Show Cause Order (SCO) issued to the surviving rider involved in the fatal accident, requiring him to explain why his driver’s license should not be revoked
  • Increased police and LTO patrols to monitor and apprehend reckless drivers
  • Immediate penalties for violators, including fines, license suspension, and revocation
  • Public awareness campaigns to educate riders on the consequences of reckless driving

A Warning to Riders: The Consequences Are Real

Reckless motorcycle stunts are not just dangerous but also are illegal. Riders who engage in these activities will face:

  • Fines and criminal charges for violating traffic laws
  • License suspension or revocation for engaging in reckless drivers
  • Potential jail time if such actions (high-speed riding, illegal stunts, and dangerous exhibitions) result in injuries or fatalities
